Artist Bio – Owner Terry Whitefield
Terry Whitefield started doing carpentry for a gentleman in Texas. They were building a very fancy Victorian style House with a very steep, eight-sided cone roof…. would do it, so Terry took it on as a subcontractor. His boss was very happy he was getting it done, but Terry could not stick with the carpentry work after doing that. He knew he had to start his own business. It was just such a great accomplishment to do the whole project on his own, that at that point Terry knew he could be successful with his own roofing business. Terry’s boss accepted that and they parted on good terms.
Each time Terry would go to put a bid on a church project, his mother would pray with her cross in her hand that he’d get the job. This became a ritual between Terry and his mother and he has yet to lose a job. In May 2011, Joan became very ill while Terry was working on his latest church restoration. Not realizing he had only 25 days to complete the project, he got to work. The roof was completed June 24th and Terry was able to take a picture of the completed project and brought the photo to his ailing mother. She was able to hold Terry’s hand with the picture and recognize the crosses on the ridge.
