Terry Whitefield

Terry Whitefield:

Terry Whitefield started out doing carpentry for a gentleman in Texas. While building a Victorian style home with a steep eight-sided cone roof, they could not find anyone to take on the intense area of the roof. Terry decided to undergo the task as a subcontractor. His boss was elated Terry was tackling the project. It was such an accomplishment to do the entire structure on his own. This experience encouraged the creation of his own roofing company. His boss accepted this and they parted on good terms.

This soon became a ritual between his mother and him. Terry has yet to lose a job. In May 2011, his mother, Joan, became very ill. Terry decided to start working on his own roof as a gift for Joan, so someday she could look down from above and see the crosses. Not realizing he had only 25 days to complete his mother’s gift, he got to work. The roof was complete June 24, 2011. Terry unmasked a picture of the finished roof. His mother squeezed his hand. With that gesture, he knew Joan recognized the crosses on the ridge were meant for her. With God’s hand, he was able to share the final results with his ailing mother before she passed.
